Magnetic Contacts

Range and Grading

Elmdene has an extensive range of high quality Magnetic Contacts providing a choice of both Surface and Flush mounting, with options of ‘Cabled’ or ‘Terminal’ Contacts within these ranges.

Our Magnetic Contacts are Graded with respect to PD6662:2004 +A1 +A2 / DD CLC/TS50131-2-6 with options available at Grades 1, 2 and 3.

Terminal Contacts

‘Terminal’ Contacts are Environmental Class II and available in both Surface & Flush fitting, supplied fitted with resistors of your choice for use in FSL systems and in most cases can also be used in Double Pole systems (check specification). Terminal Contacts benefit from a quality spring action micro switch providing reliable tamper protection.

Cabled Contacts

‘Cabled’ Contacts are Environmental Class III and are also available in both Surface and Flush fitting; cabled contacts are potted providing life long protection against the ingress of moisture, most are available in 4 or 6 wire versions.

4 wire Contacts are suitable for use in double pole systems, whereas 6 wire Contacts (patent pending) include integral resistors for use in FSL systems but with the added benefit that they can still be used in a double pole system, thus offering maximum versatility. Contacts can be configured to single or multiple doors in each case.

Application Notes

Consideration should be given to the fitting of contacts on or within a ferrous material (e.g. steel), which will usually reduce the operating gap. Some contacts can be supplied with spacers to distance the contact and magnet from a ferrous surface if required; see specification tables.

The ‘High Security’ range of contacts requires correct orientation with respect to contact and magnet and accurate alignment for successful operation. The VS222 Roller Shutter and the HDBR-SO contacts are available in a reversed (REV) version if required.

Contacts with Integral Resistors

Where Contacts are supplied with Integral Resistors, Cabled or Terminal, a Colour Code is used to make it easy for you to match them to your chosen control panel, ensuring you have the correct value resistors built into the Contact. The colour code is simply attached to the end of the product code, for example EN3-LSC-RD

The table below identifies the ‘Contact Colours’ designated to the most popular control panels:

Resistors Colour Code Control Panel(s)
